Professional negligence arises where a professional represents him/herself as having above average skills and abilities (i.e. is an expert in the area) and then falls below those standards. This applies to financial advisers, doctors, dentists, architects, valuers, surveyors, accountants, solicitors, etc where they fail to perform to the standards required of them, resulting in their client suffering damage or loss and in so doing breach the duty of care to their client to perform their job to a reasonable standard and with reasonable care.

ADL Solicitors has two founding Partners. All other staff are engaged as independent consultants to the firm as cases and workloads require, the details of these consultants is subject to confidentiality and non-disclosure requirements. Consultants bill hourly rates and receive proportional fee-related consultancy fees. This process permits the firm to take on large cases and expand its workforce accordingly without incurring large overheads for staff who are not fully engaged and allows the firm to match the resources of large law firms. (This includes qualified solicitors on maternity leave or with young families who wish to work remotely). All staff are supervised by a partner. All engaged staff are qualified as solicitors, barristers or qualified as the equivalent in overseas compatible jurisdictions.
